My 925 Story

My journey into jewellery design began in 2001 when I embarked on a degree course for Silversmithing, Goldsmithing & Jewellery Design at the (then) Kent Institute of Art & Design.  This wasn't the path I had initially chosen, having joined the college the previous year to complete a Fashion Design BTEC.  If it wasn't for the fact that the course was on the same floor as my diploma, I may have never considered jewellery an option!

After an exciting three years of study, I graduated in 2004, and landed myself the dream job working as a Fashion Jewellery Designer for a bespoke manufacturing company.   From high street retailers to fashion houses, the work was varied and I delighted in taking our clients concepts and designing bespoke collections for them.

I loved the creativity that fashion jewellery allowed me, but I missed the precious, sentimental quality that my classic jewellery training had introduced me to.

In 2017 I dusted off my Silversmithing tools once more, and started Working 925 Jewellery.  From my earliest collections up until the present day, a deep connection with nature is expressed through my work with much of my inspiration drawn from my time spent outdoors.  My free time is generally enjoyed in nature and I find it impossible not be in awe of the beauty we are surrounded by.

Bespoke work often sees me explore many different themes.  Working closely with my clients from the initial concept, it is my aim to produce a personal piece of jewellery that I know will be treasured.
The bespoke Cremation Ash Jewellery is particularly poignant, and I consider it a privilege to provide such an intimate service.  To create jewellery that is so precious and sentimental is an honour, and I carry the duty of creating these pieces with the utmost respect.

I enter this new chapter of my jewellery story as Frances Tandy Jewellery Design.  Here I showcase some of the commissions I have made for others, and share with you a little about the process.

You'll also find my ready to wear collections featuring one-of-a-kind Sterling Silver jewellery, which I hope you find beautiful.

I'm always happy to discuss my work, so please do get in touch if there is anything I can help you with.
